Type Locality and Naming

Along the Sartbulak River, South Nuratau Ridge. Yu.I. Loshkin, N.A. Mazanenko, 1969 (271, pp.41-43), in the volume of the lower part of the Llandovery. The term is no longer in use.

Synonym: Sartbulak Suite, Сартбулакская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Rhythmic interbedding of feldspar-quartz fine-grained sandstones and siltstone (aleurolites), layers of clayey and carbonaceous-clayey slates are encountered. Thickness 100-110m.

Lower contact

The relationship with the underlying Hatching Fm, apparently, is normal

Fossils

In the upper part of the section (left bank of the Tusun River near the Karakia settlement, right bank of the Aktapa River) in variegated siltstone (aleurolites), Lower Llandovery graptolites are found - Spirograptus proteus (Barr.), Streptograptusex gr. runcinatus (Lapw.), Monograptus corneolus Chal., M. colbiensis Rued. and others.


Age 

Different researchers understood the apan and age of this suite differently. Yu.I. Loshkin et al. (271) determined Thickness 650-750m and considered it conformably overlain by the Lower Buratbulak suite; Yu.V. Shumakov et al. (1973) and I.A. Pyanova et al. (1984; 371) dated it within the lower-middle Llandovery. According to the data of R.S. Khan et al. (1989) and R.R. Usmanov et al. (Korsakov et al., 1993), the suite (in the understanding of Yu.I. Loshkin) includes deposits of different ages of the Nakrut Fm, Dzhabulak Fm, and Badamchaly Fm. In the Strat. vol. (443) it corresponds to the lower part of the Llandovery.
